The First Book of the Kings, also referred to as The Third Book of the Kings, tells of the reign of Solomon and the split of Israel (the Northern Kingdom of Israel and the Southern Kingdom, or the nation of Judah).
The Second Book of the Kings, also referred to as The Fourth Book of the Kings, is the second of two books (I Kings and II Kings) that recount four centuries of the decline of Israel after the reign of David. The history is told through the reigns of selected kings.
